                        Shoes- Brogans or period boots
Hats- can very- Sloch hats ok, Kepi's -bummers     / w-bucktail on right side
                        Vest-optional
ENFIELD RIFLE or SHARPS RIFLE      w/bayonett
LEATHERS-  Belt and cap pouch / shoulder Strap w/ breast plate-ammo pouch

***** STYLE AND TYPE OF  EQUIPMENT ..  Submission by Sgt. Cass

I would like to suggest the correct accoutrements for the regiment.

-M1861 Cartridge Box. This box did not have a rivet to secure the closier tab. Only the stitching.
If it is purchased with stamps these would be Sprouls Meeker (maker) and Frankford Arsenal.
-Cap Box would be M1861 and stamped as per Cartridge Box. With loop to hold nipple pick inside.
The leather belt should have a leather keeper. Brass would be acceptable. The plate would either
have "puppy paw" studs or the normal "arrow" shaped ones.
               - The bayonet scabbard would be matched to the weapon. According to the Quarterly Returns
of the Ordinance Dept US Army, dated period ending June 30th 1863, the 149th PVI was armed
solely with the  P1853 Enfield .577 caliber  Rifle.
               - Knapsack would be the double bag soft pack.

This completes the accoutrement set for each soldier.    Compiled by  Sgt. Cass
